MessageBird – the world’s largest cloud communications platform by direct customer reach – has acquired cloud communications platform Highside. The strategic take-over is MessageBird’s first after the telecom company of the future raised its 60 million dollar Series A funding round in October 2017. With the addition of Highside to its organization, MessageBird strengthens both its product suite and market share.
The Highside acquisition enables MessageBird to accelerate the development of its Voice product. The Highside team has joined MessageBird at their Amsterdam HQ, which, after a year of rapid growth, puts the MessageBird team at over 100 employees.
“Highside’s voice platform proved to be a perfect addition to MessageBird’s product suite,” says Robert Vis, CEO and founder of MessageBird. “When we raised our $60M Series A, we committed to using the investment to scale globally by expanding our world-class team and strategically acquiring other organizations. The acquisition of Highside is the first step we’ve made in this direction. By welcoming Highside to our organization, we’ve gained a valuable partner with 15 years of telecom experience.”
“We’re excited to become a part of MessageBird,” says Martin Savelsberg, CEO and founder of Highside. “Both our companies firmly believe that enterprises should be able to communicate with customers easily and efficiently, and that modern, innovative and reliable solutions are the key to helping them do so. Together, with our combined knowledge, experience and expertise, we can serve our customers even better and truly become the telecom company of the future.”
MessageBird is on a mission to modernize and simplify the overcomplicated space of customer communication. As the only leading cloud communications platform with its own telecommunications carrier infrastructure, MessageBird connects over 15,000 enterprises to their global customers via the fastest and most reliable SMS, Voice and Chat APIs in the world.
Today MessageBird is powered by a world-class team of over 20 nationalities from offices in Amsterdam, San Francisco, Singapore, Sydney, London, Hamburg, and Shanghai. In October 2017 MessageBird announced a $60M Series A funding led by Accel, marking the largest Series A raised by any European software company or Y Combinator graduate to date.
